What is the New World Scratch & Score Promotion?

The New World Scratch & Score promotion is an online digital scratch card promotion where New World shoppers can be in to win $20, $50 & $500 instant cash prizes from a $1Million cash prize pool.

To participate in this promotion, you must make a qualifying purchase of $40 or more instore. Upon doing so, you will receive a unique code card. Enter the unique code from your card online and play the Scratch & Score instant win game to win instant cash prizes. You will receive a unique card code card for every $40 spent.

If you enter the Scratch & Score promotion but do not win an instant prize, you will still be automatically entered into the Final Draw to win $10,000.

When does the Scratch & Score Promotion start and finish (Promotion Period)?

The Promotion runs from 16 September 2019 - 2 November 2019, or until stores run out of code cards that enable you to play the game online, whichever happens first during the Promotion Period.

The online Scratch & Score game closes at midnight 3 November 2019.

Who can enter the Scratch & Score Promotion?

New Zealand residents 18 years of age or older who have spent $40 or more on a qualifying purchase in-store during the promotion period from any New World store nationwide.

Entrants must also have a valid phone number and New Zealand bank account number and agree to the terms and conditions.

Employees of New World are not eligible to enter this promotion.

Can you participate if you buy groceries online via I Shop or NW website?

Under current New Zealand Law, you are unable to participate in the online Scratch & Score instant win game component of the promotion if you make a qualifying purchase online. This applies to any form of online purchase (via I Shop on the New World website, including delivery and click and collect purchases).

What is the qualifying purchase requirement to be eligible to enter?

The qualifying purchase requirement is a minimum spend of $40 instore per transaction in order to receive one code card with a unique code. You will receive a unique code card for every qualifying $40 spent.

How many code cards will I receive?

You will receive one (1) code card for each multiple of $40 spent per qualifying purchase and one (1) bonus code card for every Bonus Buy product or product bundle bought per qualifying purchase of $40 or more. If you buy a Bonus Buy product or product bundle but spend less than $40, you will not receive a Code Card.

You can receive a maximum of 20 code cards in a single transaction.

Code cards can only be obtained at checkouts at the time you have made a qualifying purchase, or from the customer service station when using the self-checkout having made a qualifying purchase. You will need to present your receipt at customer service.

Throughout the promotion period there will be Bonus Buy product specials click here to view on a range of products that will get you Match Ready!

What products are excluded from the minimum $40 spend in-store?

The following are not included in the qualifying purchase: Christmas Club deposits, Gift Cards, prepaid debit cards, travel card top ups, phone card top ups, tobacco products, New Zealand Lotteries tickets and I Shop New World purchases.

How do I enter the promotion?

Once you have received your unique code card, visit www.matchready.co.nz to enter the promotion online.

Please follow the prompts to enter your personal details along with the unique code on your code card received in-store to play Scratch & Score.

Where do I locate the unique code?

The unique code is located on the front of your code card. Enter online at www.matchready.co.nz to play Scratch & Score.

Each code can be used to play one game only. If you win instant cash, please keep your code card for prize verification purposes.

Once you have entered the code and played Scratch & Score the code is no longer valid and to play again you will need to enter a new unique code.

How many codes can I enter per day?

A maximum of 20 different codes can be entered per day.

How do I play the Scratch & Score Online Game?

  1. Enter your phone number, email address and unique code then click Play Scratch & Score button on the screen
  2. Then simply use your finger/mouse to scratch off ALL of the silver panel on the screen
  3. Reveal 3 identical symbols (with matching cash prize values) in a single vertical, horizontal or diagonal row (3 in a row) to win instantly. (If you don't win, you'll still be entered into the Final Draw to be in to win $10,000 cash.)
  4. You will then be able to enter another new code to play again/ up to 20 game plays per day

What if my unique code doesn't work/I receive an error message?

There maybe a few reasons why a unique code isn't working, or why you receive an error message. Reasons could be:
  • that you have already entered and played Scratch & Score with the code previously.
  • that you have entered the code incorrectly so please check the code and re-enter it (upper or lower case letters are both fine BUT DO NOT add spaces in front or between any of the 8 digits)

What are the prizes I could win?

If you reveal
  • 3 x whistle symbols in a row you win $20
  • 3 x rugby ball symbols in a row you win $50
  • 3 x trophy symbols in a row you win $500

How do I know if I'm an instant winner?

You will be notified instantly on screen after you have scratched the silver game panel.

You will also receive an instant notification to the email address you provided which will contain simple instructions on how to claim your cash prize. If you win but don't get an email, please check your Spam/Junk folders.

You will also be notified instantly that you are not a winner with a 'Sorry' message that will also confirm you've received one entry into the Final Draw for $10,000 cash.

How and when will I receive my instant win prize?

The email instructions will provide you with a unique prize claim URL to click through to where you can input and complete your details including your bank account details and upload an image of your purchase receipt for validation.

Once validated and approved for payment your prize will be paid into your nominated New Zealand bank account. Please allow 28 working days to receive your prize via bank transfer, following validation of your prize claim.

What is the "Final Draw"?

If you enter the Scratch & Score promotion but do not win an instant prize, you will still be automatically entered into the Final Draw to win $10,000.

You will also be automatically entered into the Final Draw if you spend $40 or more online on qualifying purchases during the Promotion Period.

When is the final draw?

The Final Draw will be drawn by 1 December 2019 by random electronic selection from all valid entries received. The first eligible entry drawn will win the $10,000 cash prize.

The winner will be contacted by phone and or email and the prize funds will be arranged to be paid into the winner's bank account within 28 working days.

Do I need to keep my code card(s)?

Yes! We would like for you to keep all of your code cards as validation of your entry.
